How To Cover O-Rings

Covered O-Rings can be used for bags, belts or anything else you can imagine. When I first made these I found it difficult to get started. It is like making a crochet chain just with a ring in the middle of it all. Once you get the rhythm of the movement it goes quite quickly. patterns weblog

Supplies: O-Ring, yarn or embroidery floss, crochet hook, yarn needle

1. Tie slip knot with yarn or embroidery floss around O-Ring. This will hold the yarn stable for starting the stitches.
2. Draw up a loop then pull the end of the yarn through the center of the ring and then through the loop on the hook.
3. Now you have one stitch made and one loop on the hook. For the second stitch, pull the end of the yarn around the outside of the ring and through the loop.
4. Continue alternating between pulling the yarn from the inside and outside of the ring. Each stitch will make a little bump on the outside edge of the ring. You may need to arrange the bumps for a consistent look.

5. Fill the ring with stitches and fasten off. Cut the yarn and weave in ends using a yarn needle.
